Our little Poppy finally had her grommets operation yesterday after a few delays and cancellations (understandably). It meant she had to have a swab on Friday after school, meaning she missed Ember's (her bestie) birthday party and we, as a family, had to isolate for the weekend.

If this had been 18 months ago, I think we would have panicked about the idea of being stuck at home with 3 kids and nowhere to go.... but here's a small silver lining of a year of lockdown.... we had an amazing weekend!

❤️ We threw ourselves down stairs on beanbags (no small person was harmed in this ridiculous idea of a game!)
❤️ We played mini basketball and Max loved being the GIANT at the game, collecting the balls (recovered mostly from his mouth!)
❤️ We had a huge water bomb fight in the rain which Daddy got most of the brunt of, the water guns came out soon after.
❤️ We did a bit of gardening, sorted clothing out, made a lasagne, watched some family movies and had a thoroughly relaxing family time!!

Turns out, my kids do seem to like each other after all!! 😍

🙈 Yesterday was National Scavenger Hunt Day and in amongst an emotional day at the hospital with Poppy having grommets (another story), I completely forgot to post about it 😩

We LOVE scavenger hunts, they are the perfect way to...
👉 Get kids outdoors
👉 Walk further than they realise
👉 Hunt for things they may not have normally noticed
👉 Keep them occupied whilst you enjoy the time out
👉 Educational
👉 No prep required, just walk out the door with an activity ready to go... it even has it's own bag so they can also carry it!!

The Starter Kit comes with the main magnetic board, bag and scavenger hunt with additional magnetic kits to be purchased for a variety of days out including seaside, camping, mini beasts, car journey (absolute winner with our kids), supermarket and shapes & colours.

🚶‍♀️ Happy Walk to School Week 🏫

Gill and I are very lucky to live so close to school, Gill is literally at the end of the road so if you ever see her driving to school, you have my permission to give her some grief for it!! 😂

We try to walk everyday (weather and kids ability to get shoes on when asked dependent!!), not only does it give me time to talk to the kids, it also means we've all had some fresh air and got some steps in before the day really begins!

It gives me some head space on the walk back in the morning to think about my day ahead and time in the afternoon to finish phone calls etc so I am all theirs once I pick them up!

Now Max is walking (when did that happen!!) we get him out the buggy for the last part of our walk so he can explore, put leaves back in their bushes 😂 and get some exercise to help him (me) with bedtime tiredness!

🥳 A shop celebrating over 20 stunning local businesses, there is something for everyone!

It's exhausting eh, the daily fight to get them to wear the damn stuff! 😩 If they just stood still, we could get it done in half the time eh!!!

Anyway... this week is National Sun Awareness Week and as parents, it's something that is always on our minds when they are out and about in the sun!

These are the basic rules for protecting your little one in the sun but have also written a blog with more details on protecting them against the sun, and also explaining what the sun cream lingo really means!

2️⃣ Cover up
3️⃣ Get a hat
4️⃣ Wear sunglasses
