It’s so easy to want to wrap our children in cotton wool and protect them from the dangers of the world but children do need to know what to do in case of an emergency. There have been so many good news stories where children have saved their parent’s lives, that it’s...

How was half term? Or how is half term going?

We both had lovely weeks away, Gill went up north to see family & we went west to see ours!

We visited @llangorseclimbingcentre with the kids and they had the most amazing time!

The girls went riding which was so lovely, to have the beautiful view of the Brecon Beacons whilst getting in the steps and taking in the fresh air!

The boys took on the climbing centre, not for the faint hearted, they smashed it! Climbed the wall, crawled through the caves, took on the obstacles and gave abseiling a run for its money, we were so so proud of them!

If you are in that neck of the woods, we can highly recommend it, the people were all fab, kind & patient and the kids had an absolute blast, a real sense of achievement!! They also learnt about their tummy muscles that night!! 😆💪

What challenges have you been up to?
We just wanted to say thank you for all your support last week during Children's Mental Health Week.

Thank you for your orders, for your comments & likes on social media and for all those that got in touch in support of what we had been doing last week.

We all know it takes a village to bring up kids and we want to thank you for allowing us to be part of yours to help entertain and support their mental health.

We hope you all enjoy your gifts & activities, please do leave us a review as we love to hear from you all. Don't forget to subscribe also so we can keep you up to date with deals, offers, new products and support.

Thank you again!

Part of the Children's Mental Health Week - Growing Together is acknowledging and understanding how we have grown and the skills we have learnt and developed over the years. That we each learn new skills at different times, speeds and in different ways.

My children were 4 & 7 when Max arrived almost 2 years ago (where has that time gone!), they have witnessed him grow and develop from lying on his back to rolling to crawling to walking and they have found it fascinating (as well as asking a million questions about when they were able to walk!).

They love to tell me when they have seen Max do something for the first time and now with the words he is learning. I love watching their faces light up and telling them stories of when they were young and how far they have come with their skills and ability.

These activity kits will show your little ones just how far they have come too, from planting seeds to threading bracelets, highlight to them the skills they now have to be able to complete these tasks and enjoy the results.

Also fab half term activities x

The vast majority of staff working in UK schools (95%) have witnessed increased levels of pupil anxiety since the start of the school year, according to new research published by Place2Be and NAHT ahead of Children’s Mental Health Week.

A new poll of educational professionals, released today (4th February 2022) by Place2Be and NAHT, reveals the impact of the pandemic is still being felt in schools.

1,130 school leaders, teachers and other staff working in primary and secondary schools completed the poll. Those surveyed have seen an increased prevalence of other mental health issues among pupils this school year, including:
- 86% noted an increase in low self-esteem
- 76% said they’d seen an increase in depression
- 68% witnessed an increase in sustained feelings of anger

My Happy Journal  is a children’s positive mindset and activity journal with lots of fun things to do, as well as 90 diary entries to complete with their thoughts, stories and daily adventures.
What’s inside:
- 90 guided diary entries to record 3 high points of each day.
- Stuffed full of activities and fun.
- Overflowing with fun facts.
- Encouraging a positive mindset and celebrating everyday joys.

We also have the Growth Mindset printable where research has shown that our learning & abilities are not fixed & teaching our children to understand this can have a huge impact on their wellbeing. Our Growth Mindset Bundle is a downloadable item that you can print at home as many times as you need.
Includes:
*6 Prints with motivating Growth Mindset Quotes
*Growth Mindset Affirmations
*3 different ‘Growth Mindset Record Sheets’ to help record progress.
*3 ‘Creating my Growth Mindset’ Sheets that support children to learn the attitudes and mindset needed for personal development

*Setting Goals cards
When it comes to children's mental health, sometimes identifying just how they are feeling and getting them to open up about it and understand it is the hardest part.

Asking them to describe what their emotions feel like can sometimes help you, as the parent, to identify with that emotion from fluttering butterflies being nerves to wanting to scream being anger, we can then work on how to manage those emotions.

We currently have a range of mindful products on the website, some of which have been including in our offer to donate 10% back to @_place2be.

We have a recording of a webinar held in the autumn with Charlotte from @happyhumanproject_ on how to manage big emotions.
The workshop recording covers:
– Children’s brain development
– Why children feel such big emotions
– Strategies for before, during and after meltdowns
– How negative self-talk impacts emotions and mental health
– Techniques to combat negative self-talk and boost confidence and self esteem
– What are limiting beliefs and how to overcome them

We also have a 17 page activity pack with mindful colouring, journaling pages, games and more.

These items are available on the website, link in the bio and all sales will generate a 10% donation to @_place2be.

Thank you x

When Gill and I were discussing the theme for Children's Mental Health Week, we immediately thought of Ember and Poppy.

They have known each other since they were tiny and have literally grown together. They are incredibly sweet together, sharing their highs and lows and always supporting each other. They make little crafts for each other and buy little gifts, they are each others fan club and recognise just how incredibly valuable that is in a friendship and how lucky they are to have each other.

We found out about an incident at school recently where they were playing in different areas of the playground. Ember had an accident and was hurt and crying, the first thing their friends did was to go and get Poppy as 'she'll know how to make Ember feel better!' It spoke volumes to us about just how well they know each other.

We are supporting 'Growing Together' through @_place2be this week as we want to support others having that same strength to recognise how totally amazing each and every person is & the skills they have in their own way, in their own time!

Please help us to support this charity by purchasing any of our hand picked products from our Children's Mental Health category on the website (link in the bio), we will then donate 10% of all sales to @_place2be

Thank you x

❤️ Children's Mental Health Week ❤️

What is says in the image... we are so very proud to be supporting @_place2be this week.

The theme of this year is Growing Together.
(below text taken from @place2be information pack)

What is 'Growing Together' and why is it important?
Human beings change and grow– we do it all the time and in many different ways. Physical growth is easy to see as we grow from babies to children, teenagers to adults. But growing emotionally is also an important part of our development.

Things that upset us when we were younger may no longer overwhelm us as we grow and learn to cope with life’s ups and downs. Challenges and set-backs can help us to grow and adapt. Trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’. At these times we are reminded of how much we need others in our lives to help us to keep growing.

We need our parents and carers, our teachers, our friends and others to support us to grow, especially when things get tough. We often need others to help us to believe in ourselves, to keep going, and to try doing things a bit differently.
Even when we have experienced really difficult challenges in our lives, with the right
support, we can continue to grow and flourish.

We want to be part of that support for children, and for parents for their children, through our products, blogs and downloads. We are thrilled to be giving back to this amazing charity by donating 10% of sales from our Children's Mental Health Week section during this week.

Mental health is the foundation for emotions, thinking, communication, learning, resilience and self-esteem. Mental health is also key to relationships, personal and emotional well-being and contributing to community or society.

The theme of this year's Children’s Mental Health Week is Growing Together.
Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow.

Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.

This year we are supporting @_place2be, a children’s mental health charity with over 25 years’ experience working with pupils, families and staff in UK schools.
They provide much needed mental health support (especially after the last 2 years) in schools through one-to-one and group counselling using tried and tested methods backed by research.

We are delighted to be offering 10% of all sales from our hand picked products for Children's Mental Health Week to @_place2be from tomorrow, Monday 7th February, through to Sunday 13th February 2022.

Please help us spread the word.... thank you.

As we come to a close of Story Telling Week, we wanted to highlight a couple of the products we have to support your little ones and their story telling fun.

These beautiful Story Writing Activity Books (paperback) aims to guide children through the story writing process with lots of helpful tips, exercises and activities along the way. This creative writing tool is something that they can treasure and is designed to help a child’s imagination shine.

Children often feel more confident telling a story using a puppet. It doesn’t have to be a real puppet. It could be a cuddly toy or perhaps a sock with a couple of eyes glued on. Set up a makeshift puppet theatre, using a cardboard box or whatever you can think of. Children love performing stories in this way. Using additional props to take their imaginations further is also a great way to encourage their story telling.

These build and colour ships are perfect for all their trips abroad, across the water whether cruising, pirates or rescuing!
